Malaika Arora’s Father Jumps from 7th Floor in Suicide: Mother’s Statement to Police

Bollywood actress Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Arora, reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of Asha Manor building in Bandra, Mumbai, on Wednesday, September 11, around 9 a.m. The police arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem. The body has been kept at Baba Hospital. In the initial investigation, no suicide note was found. Malaika’s ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan, was the first to arrive at the scene. Malaika was in Pune when she received the news of her father’s death. She has now reached Mumbai, and Arjun Kapoor has also arrived. Additionally, Arbaaz’s mother, Salma Khan, sister Alvira, and younger brother Sohail Khan have also come to pay their respects.

Family Denies Suicide Claims

Close sources to Malaika informed PTI that Anil Arora did not commit suicide, and it was an accident, a matter that will be clarified through the police investigation.

Mother’s Statement to the Police

Malaika’s mother, Joyce, stated to the police, “Anil would sit on the balcony every morning and read the newspaper. Though they were divorced, they had been living together for the past few years. On Wednesday, September 11, I noticed his slippers but didn’t see him in the balcony. Suddenly, I heard the watchman shouting for help, so I looked down. My husband was not suffering from any illness, only knee pain. He had taken voluntary retirement from the Merchant Navy.”

Anil Arora’s Background

Anil Arora belonged to a Punjabi Hindu family from Fazilka district near the border. He had worked in the Indian Merchant Navy. He married Joyce Polycarp, who came from a Malayali Christian family.

Health Issues in 2023

In July 2023, Anil Arora was hospitalized due to health issues. Last year, he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai, and Malaika was seen there with her mother. However, the cause of his treatment was not disclosed. Malaika had previously shared that she was only 11 years old when her parents, Joyce Polycarp and Anil Arora, got divorced. After the divorce, Malaika and her younger sister Amrita were raised single-handedly by their mother, Joyce. After the separation, Joyce moved with her daughters from Thane to Chembur.

Living Together Again After Years

After many years, Joyce and Anil Arora started living together again. Both daughters would visit their parents often. Malaika now lives alone in Bandra West.
