Team Announcement for Bangladesh Test: Kohli, Pant, Rahul Return; Yash Dayal’s Surprise Entry

Team India has been announced for the first match of the 2-Test series against Bangladesh. A 16-player squad has been selected for the match, which will be played in Chennai starting on September 19. Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel have been included in the middle order.

Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal has received his first opportunity in the Test team. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant will also return to the Test squad for the series against Bangladesh. These three players were not part of the previous series against England.

Four Young Players Included

Middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan, wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, fast bowler Akash Deep, and Yash Dayal have been included in the team. Except for Dayal, the other three players made their debut in the series against England earlier this year. Dayal took 4 wickets in the first round of the Duleep Trophy.

Six Players Who Didn’t Play the Duleep Trophy

Six players who did not play in the Duleep Trophy have been included in the team. These include captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj. Except for Kohli, the other five players participated in the Test series against England earlier this year. Kohli could not play due to personal reasons.

Bangladesh to Play 2 Tests and 3 T20s

Bangladesh’s tour of India will begin on September 19. The first Test will be played in Chennai, and the second Test will take place in Kanpur starting on September 27. Three T20 matches will be played on October 6, 9, and 12, in Gwalior, Delhi, and Hyderabad, respectively.
