Apple’s ‘It’s Glow Time’ Event Today: 4 Smartphones in the iPhone 16 Series to Be Launched, AI Features Expected for the First Time
Apple, the company behind the iPhone, is set to hold its biggest launch event of the year tonight at 10:30 PM. The event is titled “It’s Glow Time.” The iPhone 16 series may introduce four models with AI features: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The company might also launch the Apple Watch Series 10 and AirPods. Reports suggest that the iPhone 16 series could be slimmer than the 10 series and feature a larger display. Additionally, the company may unveil lower-end AirPods as well.
Changes in iPhone Display Sizes
According to numerous leaks, Apple may alter the display sizes of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro Max could feature a 6.9-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro might have a 6.3-inch display.
iPhones Manufactured in India Since 2017
Apple began manufacturing iPhones in India with the iPhone SE in 2017. The company has three electronics manufacturing service (EMS) partners: Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron.
Following the iPhone SE, the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 have also been produced in India. Foxconn’s plant is located near Chennai in Sriperumbudur.
Apple Part of India’s PLI Scheme
All three of Apple’s contract manufacturers (Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron) are part of the Indian government’s ₹41,000 crore Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The production of iPhones in India has increased since the implementation of this scheme.
The Indian government launched the PLI scheme in 2020 to provide foreign companies with the opportunity to benefit from local production and receive incentives.
First Introduction of USB-C Port Last Year
Last year, during the “Wanderlust” event, Apple launched the iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2. For the first time, the company introduced a USB-C port for charging. Previously, Apple devices used the Lightning port.
