American World Trade Center-Like Attack on Russia: Drone Collides with 38-Story Building, Accusations Against Ukraine
A drone attack reminiscent of the World Trade Center incident in the U.S. has struck Saratov, Russia. On Monday morning, a drone collided with a 38-story residential building named ‘Volga Sky,’ leaving four people injured so far.
According to Reuters, Russia was targeted by 20 drones on Monday, with the majority of nine being launched at Saratov. The governor of Moscow claimed that Ukraine was behind these drone attacks, although Ukraine has yet to comment on the matter. Reports suggest that the drones were launched from Ukraine.
The attack caused significant damage to the building, and over 20 vehicles parked below were also damaged. One woman was severely injured and has been hospitalized. Saratov is located 900 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border. In the aftermath of the attack, all air activities in the area have been suspended.

A video that has gone viral on social media shows a drone rapidly approaching the ‘Volga Sky’ building and crashing into it. The incident is reminiscent of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in the United States.
On that day, terrorists hijacked four planes. Three of these planes crashed into three major buildings in the U.S., one after the other. The first crash occurred at 8:45 AM when a Boeing 767 collided with the North Tower of the World Trade Center at high speed. Eighteen minutes later, another Boeing 767 struck the South Tower.
One of the planes also crashed into the Pentagon, the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense. The fourth plane crashed in a field. The 9/11 attacks resulted in the deaths of 3,000 people from 93 different countries and are considered one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in human history.
Ukraine Targets Strategic Bomber Military Base in Saratov
Reports indicate that Ukraine’s military targeted the tallest building in Engels, Saratov Province. The Engels base is home to Russia’s strategic bomber military facility. Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, Ukraine has conducted multiple attacks on this site.
Ukraine Continues Assault on Russia for 20 Days
In a significant development in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, Ukraine took control of Russia’s Kursk region for the first time on August 6, 2024, during a 2.5-year-long conflict. Since then, Ukraine has been relentlessly attacking Russia. According to RT reports, 31 Russian civilians have lost their lives in Ukrainian attacks over the past 20 days, with over 140 others injured.
This marks the first time since World War II that a foreign power has taken control of Russian territory. In just two weeks, Ukraine has captured 1,263 square kilometers of Russian land.
However, experts suggest that President Zelensky’s victory might be short-lived and could potentially be reversed. Currently, Ukraine’s focus is on Kursk, which may allow Russia to advance towards Pokrovsk in Donetsk.
Political analyst Tatyana Stanovaya points out that Russia is employing a World War II-style strategy, allowing the enemy to penetrate its territory before encircling and attacking. This approach might make Zelensky’s Kursk campaign increasingly challenging.
