Barcelona Footballer Lamine Yamal’s Father Stabbed by Criminals, Hospitalized: Euro Cup Winner
Lamine Yamal’s father has been admitted to the hospital after being stabbed by criminals outside a parking lot in Barcelona. He was severely injured after being attacked multiple times and is currently receiving treatment.
17-year-old Yamal played a key role in making Spain the Euro Cup champion in July. He also scored a goal in the semifinal against France, giving his team the lead.
The Attack Occurred on Wednesday
According to ESPN, Yamal’s father, Mounir Nasraoui, was attacked in his hometown of Mataró, which is 30 km from Barcelona. Local police reported that he was stabbed by the assailants around 9:10 PM on Wednesday night. However, the attack is not believed to be life-threatening.
On Thursday, Yamal’s father posted on social media, saying that he is feeling better. He also thanked everyone who supported him.
Three People Arrested
On Wednesday, the police arrested three people. After interrogating them, a fourth suspect was also apprehended. The police mentioned that more arrests could follow, though the identities of the suspects were not disclosed.
Yamal Practicing with Barcelona
Lamine Yamal plays club football for Barcelona. At the time of the attack on his father, he was practicing with his team. He is set to play a match against Valencia in La Liga on Saturday.
Yamal Made Spain Euro Cup Champions
Spain won the Euro Cup this year, held in June and July. Young Yamal played a significant role in making the team champions. He played in all the matches of the tournament, held in Germany, and scored a crucial goal against France, helping the team reach the final.
In the final against England, Nico Williams scored a goal from Yamal’s assist. This goal gave the team a 1-0 lead over England. The match ended with a 2-1 scoreline, and Spain won the title. Yamal was awarded the Young Player of the Tournament.
