Mahindra Thar ROXX Launched at ₹12.99 Lakh: Off-Road SUV with 6 Airbags, ADAS, and More

Mahindra Launches Thar Roxx in Indian Market

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the Thar Roxx in the Indian market, a 5-door version of their most popular SUV, the Thar. It comes equipped with the same off-road technology as the current 3-door Thar but includes new features for comfort and safety. The Thar Roxx boasts a new 6-slat grille, a complete LED lighting setup, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, and automatic air conditioning. For safety, the new SUV is equipped with 6 airbags as standard, TPMS, and ADAS.

Thar Roxx Priced ₹1.64 Lakh Higher Than Standard Thar

The base petrol MX1 variant of the Thar Roxx is priced at ₹12.99 lakh, and the base diesel model is priced at ₹13.99 lakh (both ex-showroom, introductory prices). The new Thar Roxx is ₹1.64 lakh more expensive than the standard 3-door Thar. Prices for other variants will be announced soon. Bookings for the SUV have already started, and deliveries are expected to begin next month. The Mahindra Thar Roxx will compete with the 5-door Force Gurkha in its segment and can also be considered an alternative to the Maruti Jimny.

Exterior: Thar Roxx Retains Traditional Boxy Profile

The design of the Thar Roxx follows the same traditional boxy outline as the 3-door Thar but with some modifications. The SUV features a C-shaped LED DRL with LED headlights and a new body-colored 6-slat grille. There are also some silver elements on the front bumper. The fog lights and turn indicators are in the same position as the 3-door Thar but have been redesigned.

On the side profile, you’ll notice two additional doors, with the handle for the rear door integrated into the C-pillar. The Thar Roxx comes with 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a footrest to facilitate entry into the vehicle. The SUV also features a matte roof with a panoramic sunroof, while the lower variants are equipped with a single-pane sunroof.

The taillights are C-shaped, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel is also provided at the rear. Notably, the rear glass now includes a wiper, a feature not found on the 3-door version. The rear window and door open separately, as before.

Interior: Panoramic Sunroof and 10.25-Inch Digital Driver Display

The cabin of the Thar Roxx is based on a black and white theme. The seats feature white leather upholstery, and the dashboard is wrapped in black leatherette with contrast copper stitching. The front passenger is also provided with a center armrest. In the second row, there are child ISOFIX anchor seats, a foldable center armrest, three-point seatbelts, and adjustable headrests for all passengers.

The 5-door Thar comes equipped with a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch infotainment system. Additionally, it offers a panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents with automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and keyless entry with a push-button start-stop feature.

Safety Features: Advanced Driver Assistance System

For safety, the Thar Roxx is equipped with 6 airbags (standard), a 360-degree camera setup, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The SUV also includes an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which offers features like Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.
