Surendranagar-Chotila Highway Bus Falls into Ditch: Over 20 Injured

In Surendranagar, another tragic accident has occurred as daily accidents claim lives. An ST bus carrying 30 passengers plunged into a ditch, resulting in injuries to more than 20 passengers. Fortunately, there were no fatalities in this incident. All the injured have been shifted to medical care, and the police are conducting an investigation.

Bus Overturned into a Ditch

According to the information received, on the Surendranagar-Chotila Highway near Patia village, the ST bus on the Rajkot-Surendranagar route overturned after the driver lost control of the steering wheel. The bus fell into a ditch and flipped over. There were approximately 30 passengers on the bus, and more than 20 passengers were injured.

Injured Transferred for Treatment

Upon hearing the commotion and cries from the overturned bus, nearby people rushed to the scene and promptly informed emergency services and the police. The 108 ambulance and police arrived quickly. Due to the crowd and the ambulances, traffic congestion was caused on the highway. After two hours of effort, traffic was restored. It was found that the driver lost control of the steering when another vehicle approached, causing the bus to overturn. All injured have been moved to the government hospital in Surendranagar, and the police are continuing their investigation.

Truck Crushes Student in Vadodara

In Vadodara’s Karelibaug area, a student riding a scooter was crushed to death by a speeding Iser truck. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. The truck driver hit the student who was turning, and the truck’s tire caused severe injuries. The student died before medical help could arrive. Karelibaug police have arrested the truck driver and initiated further investigation. The deceased student was supposed to travel to the US within a month on a 10-year visa, but the truck claimed her life before her journey.

Victim Returning Home After Shopping

The 17-year-old student from Gorwa in Vadodara reported at Karelibaug police station that she, along with her cousin Keya Dineshbhai Patel (17) and friend Aish, went shopping at Bombay Cell near Water Tank Circle around 4 PM. While returning, Keya was driving the Activa, and they were making a U-turn when a speeding Iser truck hit them. The collision caused her to fall, resulting in injuries to her left foot and knee.

Student’s Nose Bleeding

Upon getting up, the student saw that Keya had fallen with the Activa, bleeding from her nose and right knee, and had become unconscious. Nearby people called 108, and before the ambulance arrived, her uncle Hardikbhai Patel reached the scene.

Two Hospitals Refused Treatment

The student, along with her relatives, first went to Navrang Hospital, but they were turned away. They then went to Shukan Hospital, which directed them to Sayaji Hospital for further treatment. At Sayaji Hospital, Keya was declared dead. A complaint was lodged against the Iser truck driver at Karelibaug police station. The police have arrested the driver, Harish Gohil, and further investigation is underway.

CCTV Captures Accident

The entire accident was captured on CCTV, clearly showing the truck driver crushing the student on the Activa. The crowd gathered immediately, and police and ambulance services were informed promptly.

Deceased Was Set to Travel to the US

Keya Patel had recently received a 10-year US visa and was set to travel within a month. She had also recently visited Delhi for visa-related work. Tragically, she lost her life in the accident before her journey to the US.

Family Gathering Before the Accident

The victim’s maternal and paternal aunts had gathered at the uncle’s house before Raksha Bandhan. They had gone out for shopping and were returning home when the accident occurred.
