Emergency teams arrived at the scene and rescued the guests trapped in the hotel, transferring them to other hotels. Approximately 400 people, including hotel staff, were saved. The bodies of the two deceased individuals have been sent for postmortem. Cairns is a tourist destination in Australia, attracting thousands of visitors daily. People Heard Explosion-Like Sound
According to Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), the impact with the roof caused the helicopter’s two rotor blades to break and fall into the Esplanade and the hotel’s pool. Hotel spokesperson Kathleen Dennings told the media that there was an explosion-like sound, and she saw flames from the fire. There was a deafening explosion, and the helicopter’s rotor blades were found on the ground. People mistook them for lamp posts. Later, when looking up, they saw a large hole in the building’s window. According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the roads around the hotel have been cordoned off, and the police have declared a state of emergency.
