Gujarat’s 5 IAS Officers Hired Under Disability Quota to Undergo Re-Medical Tests: Sources

Significant news is emerging from Gujarat’s administration. Following the IAS officer Pooja Khedkar scandal, the administration has now taken action. According to sources, approximately five IAS officers in Gujarat have been ordered to undergo medical examinations again. 

This order was issued due to allegations that they were recruited into civil services based on false disability certificates.

After the Pooja Khedkar incident, the Gujarat government’s General Administration Department expressed concerns about the disability certificates of five IAS officers. A senior official noted that one officer claimed visual impairment, while three junior officers cited ‘locomotor disability’ in their certificates.

IAS Officers Required to Re-submit Disability Certificates

Five IAS officers from Gujarat will need to re-submit their disability certificates. Following the scandal involving IAS officer Pooja Khedkar in Maharashtra, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has directed all All India Service officers to undergo a new medical examination to obtain disability certificates.

Who Needs to Undergo Medical Tests

According to sources, all IAS, IPS, and IFS officers in the state who have submitted disability certificates have been ordered to undergo medical tests again at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. Following these tests, they will need to present the new disability certificates to the UPSC.
