Nine Devotees Killed in 15 Seconds: DJ Trolley Collides with Power Line in Bihar, Bodies Burnt by 11,000-Volt Shock

On the third Monday of Shravan in Hajipur, nine devotees lost their lives while traveling to Sonpur for the jalabhishek ritual at Baba Hariharnath temple. The devotees’ DJ trolley collided with a high-tension wire. The accident occurred around midnight in Sultanpur village under the Hajipur Industrial Police Station. All the victims were in the DJ trolley, and their bodies were burned by the electric current.

The accident happened within seconds. For about 15 seconds, the bodies were stuck to the trolley, continuing to burn after the electric shock.

During the month of Shravan, villagers regularly go for jalabhishek at the nearby Harihar Nath temple every Monday. On Sunday night, the villagers were heading for the ritual, and a DJ trolley was arranged for the occasion. However, as the DJ trolley was being taken through a bad road in the village, it came into contact with an overhead high-tension wire.

Panic and Chaos: Nine Killed in Hajipur Electrocution Incident

Due to the electric shock, the youths on the trolley were severely burned, causing panic and leading to several others getting electrocuted. The incident resulted in nine fatalities at the scene. 

Upon receiving information about the accident, a large number of police officers, along with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), arrived at the site, where they were met with protests from the local residents.

The locals alleged that the negligence of the electricity department was responsible for the incident. They also claimed that even after repeatedly notifying the electricity department post-accident, no action was taken to cut off the power supply.

Father of Deceased Speaks Out: Delay in Power Cut Aggravated Tragedy

Devi Lal, the father of the deceased Amod Kumar, recounted the incident, stating that the trolley was on its way when it came into contact with the wire, causing an electric shock. The power was cut off only half an hour later. 

Everyone was heading towards Baba Hariharnath. Many people were behind the trolley, and only a few were in front, who were electrocuted and died. He added that if more people had been present at the site, the tragedy could have been much worse.

Everyone was going to offer water to the Hariharnath temple.

Local Resident Alleges Negligence: Calls for Help Ignored

Local resident Dharmendra Kumar Paswan stated that despite multiple calls to the area’s electricity department, the calls went unanswered. When they finally managed to speak with someone, the response was indifferent, advising them to inform the police that nine people had died at the site.

After coming in contact with the high tension wire, sparks started coming out in the trolley.

Injured Survivor Recounts Incident: Panic Ensued as People Fell Unconscious

Injured survivor Shivam Kumar shared that as soon as the electric shock occurred, people started falling unconscious. They were on their way to fetch water from Sultanpur before heading to the Hariharnath temple. Many people were present at the site, and several were injured in the incident.

Official Statement: Investigation Underway After Nine Deaths Due to Electrocution

SDPO Om Prakash stated that the devotees were on their way to Baba Dham when the DJ trolley collided with an 11,000-volt electric wire, resulting in the deaths of nine people. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing.
