Cloudburst in Himachal: 1 Dead in Landslide, 80 Roads Blocked; Flood Alert in 15 States
Several districts in Himachal Pradesh experienced heavy rainfall late Sunday night, leading to over 80 road closures due to landslides. In Shimla, a vehicle was buried under debris on the Mehli-Shoghi road. Additionally, a cloudburst occurred in Gyabung, Kinnaur district, causing heavy rain in the area.
Flood-like Situation in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh
In Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, heavy rainfall has created flood-like conditions. The authorities have opened 8 gates of the Rajghat Dam and 20 gates of the Matatila Dam, leading to flooding in the Betwa River. Alerts have been issued for villages along the riverbanks.
Heavy Rainfall in Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh is also experiencing heavy rainfall, with 7% more rain than usual recorded so far. The Narmada River is in spate, and the authorities have opened the gates of several dams, including Kolar, Bargi, and Satpura. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alerts for 15 states on Monday, July 29.
Challenges Due to Rain in Various Parts of the Country
Heavy rains are causing difficulties in various parts of the country. In Madhya Pradesh, gates of two dams have been opened, including 2 gates of the Kolar Dam in Bhopal, 7 gates of the Satpura Dam in Betul, and 4 gates of the Mohanpura Dam in Rajgarh. In Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, 16 gates of the Govind Sagar Dam have been opened so far, with 4 gates opened on Sunday alone.

Heavy rainfall (up to 7 cm) is also expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
