Lightweight Anti-Sleep Device for Gujarat Students: Fits in Glasses, Alerts in 3 Seconds

Two students from Surat have developed a prototype of anti-sleep detectors, which are highly useful for security guards, ICU doctors, long-distance drivers, and students studying late at night. If anyone keeps their eyes closed for more than 3 seconds, the device will sound an alert alarm. This prototype has been researched by students to establish patterns. In case a driver inadvertently closes their eyes while driving, this alert alarm will prevent major accidents. Moreover, this device also includes a GPS system. If an accident is imminent due to drowsiness, an immediate message will be sent to their family members.

Eyes Blinking More Than 3 Seconds Will Trigger an Alarm in This Device

Phenil Chauhan, Radhika Cheruku, and Professor Dr. Dipali Kastur of the Computer Science Department at a public education university have prepared the prototype of anti-sleep detectors. With this, if anyone’s eyes blink more than 3 seconds, an alarm will sound on their phone. This device has a battery capacity of 200 mAh and uses an SMD sensor. It can operate for up to 60 hours on a single charge and took 6 months for students to develop. Weighing 85 grams, the device can be worn with any glasses.

Device Provides Alert Alarms

One of the students, Phenil Chauhan, came up with the concept to create this device. He mentioned, “I am a third-year engineering student. Once, during exam preparation time, I used to feel very sleepy. Due to frequent drowsiness, I couldn’t concentrate.” So, I thought of creating a device that wakes you up with its sensor’s sound, not only for students but also for those who drive or work in ICU, it could be useful.

Device Connects with GPS

Another student, Radhika Cheruku, said, “Through Bluetooth, this device will connect with the phone. Therefore, it is connected with the wires and in the coming days will become wireless.” This device can be used by any person. For example, this device weighs 85 grams, so it can be fitted with any glasses, and no special glasses are required. This device can also be charged with a USB type 2. This device is fully charged in 2 hours and connects with GPS. And the user can send an alert message to their home.
