Team India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has announced his retirement from T20 cricket. He made this announcement through a social media post. Following Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Jadeja has now retired. On Sunday, Team India defeated South Africa in the final in Barbados to win the T20 World Cup after 17 years. Just a day after this victory, Jadeja announced his retirement from international cricket in this format. The team’s other two stalwarts, Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma, also announced their retirement immediately after winning the final.

In his T20 International retirement post, Jadeja said: “I bid farewell to T20 Internationals with a true heart. Like a steadfast horse running with pride, I have always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup is like a dream, and it has come true. This was the pinnacle of my T20 international career. Thank you for the memories, excitement, and unwavering support. Jai Hind. Ravindrasinh Jadeja.”
Bidding Farewell to a 15-Year T20 Career
Ravindra Jadeja made his debut in T20 international cricket on February 10, 2009. He played his first match against Sri Lanka in Colombo. In his debut T20, Jadeja gave 29 runs in 4 overs without taking any wickets, and with the bat, he scored 5 runs off 7 balls. Speaking of his overall T20I career, he has scored 515 runs in 74 matches with an average of 21.45, while in bowling, he has taken 54 wickets at an economy rate of just 7.13.

Jadeja played his last match in the T20 World Cup 2024. In this match, Jadeja scored 2 runs with the bat and gave 12 runs without taking any wickets in his bowling. Interestingly, his debut and last match performances were quite similar.
