Unlocking Job Market Potential: 900% Surge in Analytics Roles within Country’s Global Capability Centers
The expansion of big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence in the country has not only accelerated rapidly but has also led to a surge in tech jobs. According to business solution provider Kwesh Corp, there has been a staggering 900% increase in analytics jobs in Global Capability Centers (GCCs) from October to March of the previous year.
Additionally, roles related to cybersecurity have increased by 214%, while the demand for cloud experts has risen by 31% compared to a year ago. This surge underscores the growing significance of these technologies in reshaping the job market landscape, positioning India as a key player in the global tech industry.
Annual Digital Skills Report 2024: Shift Towards Specialized Tech Roles
According to the Annual Digital Skills Report 2024, there has been a significant shift towards specialized technical roles in the past year, with a remarkable 66% increase overall. The top five areas witnessing this surge include development, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), testing, design, engineering, and networking.
In the IT sector as a whole, there has been a staggering 256% rise in demand for analytics, followed by a 215% increase in cybersecurity expertise, and a 16% increase in cloud proficiency. These findings underscore the evolving nature of the tech job market, emphasizing the importance of acquiring specialized skills to meet the growing demands of the industry.
74% Demand in Global Capability Centers: Strong Job Outlook for the Financial Year 2023-24
Between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, Global Capability Centers (GCCs) accounted for a significant 74% share of the total demand for technical skills. Of this, 16% of the demand originated from enterprise clients, while the remaining 10% constituted other sources.
The increasing number of GCCs in the country has also contributed to a promising job outlook for the financial year 2024-25.
Rapid Growth of Tech Ecosystem in Tier-2, Tier-3 Cities of India
Metropolitan hubs like Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and Pune have long been magnets for international companies due to their thriving tech ecosystems. However, there has been a noticeable acceleration in the development of tech ecosystems in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, and Indore as well.
