Indian PhD Student in London Dies in Accident: Had Worked with “NITI AAYOG”
Former female employee of NITI Aayog met with an accident in London, resulting in her demise. Former CEO of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, shared the news of the death of 33-year-old Cheshita Kochhar on social media.
Amitabh Kant wrote – Cheshita Kochhar was pursuing her PhD at the London School of Economics. While returning home on her bicycle from university a fortnight ago, she met with her fate at the accident site where a truck hit her while she was trying to avoid garbage being dumped.
Kochhar met with the accident on March 19. At the time of the accident, her husband Prashant was ahead of her, and he rushed to save her. However, the accident was so severe that Cheshita couldn’t be saved.
She had visited London in September last year. According to Cheshita Kochhar’s LinkedIn profile, she worked as a senior consultant in NITI Aayog’s National Behavior Insight Unit between 2021 and 2023. She resided in Gurugram. She went to London in September last year for her PhD.
Cheshita had received higher education from Delhi University, Ashoka University, and universities in Pennsylvania and Chicago. Besides, she completed her schooling from schools in Delhi and other army schools in the country.
Father retired from the army
Cheshita Kochhar’s father, Lieutenant General SP Kochhar, is retired from the army. They have gone to London to take her daughter’s body. He wrote on social media – I am currently in London. I have come to take my daughter’s remains. The demise of Cheshitha is a big loss for the family and her friends.
