FBI Offers 8 Lakh Reward in Search for Missing Indian Student in US for 4 Years
The FBI in the U.S. state of New Jersey has offered a reward of $10,000 (8.32 lakh INR) for information on a missing Indian student since 2019. The student, identified as Mayushi Bhagat, is 29 years old and was last seen on April 29, 2019. According to reports, she had a conversation with her father on May 1, after which the family reported her missing.
Mayushi Bhagat Listed in FBI’s Most Wanted List
In July of the previous year, Mayushi Bhagat’s name was listed in the FBI’s ‘Kidnapping/Missing Persons’ column as one of the most wanted individuals. Originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, Mayushi had been studying in New York Institute of Technology since 2016 on a student visa. According to the FBI, she is fluent in Hindi, English, and Urdu.
Father’s Employment and Appeal for Information
Mayushi’s father, Vikas Bhagat, is employed in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. The FBI has urged anyone with information about Mayushi’s location or her disappearance to come forward, offering a reward of up to $10,000. Vikas Bhagat works in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation.
Mayushi Denied Contact After Daughter’s Disappearance
After her daughter went missing, Mayushi’s father revealed that he tried contacting her multiple times but received no response. Mayushi had sent a message on WhatsApp to her father on May 1, mentioning that she would not be returning home. Vikas Bhagat stated that Mayushi was upset, but he discouraged her from contacting anyone and tried to convince her to return home. Vikas and his wife, Deepti, have been residing in the United States with their daughter since December 2018.
Death of Missing Indian Student Found in London’s Canal
In a tragic turn of events, the body of a 23-year-old missing Indian student was discovered in a canal in East London after being missing for a week. The UK police announced the information on Thursday, identifying the student as Gurshaman Singh Bhattiyah. Gurshaman went missing on December 14 after going out with friends.
Investigation Ongoing in London
The police divers recovered the student’s body from the water at Canary Wharf, East London. The investigation is ongoing, and Gurshaman was last seen in CCTV recordings. The police have appealed to the public for information about his death.
