Mahindra & Mahindra Prepares to Launch 5-Door Version of Thar in 2024
Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch the 5-door version of its popular off-road SUV Thar in 2024. Currently, the company is actively searching for a new name for this variant. Recently, the company has trademarked seven names for this purpose. These names include Thar Armada, Kolt, REX, Roxor, Gladious, and Centurion.
Among these, Thar Armada holds significant potential, given that Mahindra Armada, launched in 1993, was a well-received SUV from the company. The company has introduced various versions of the Armada over the years, making it a nostalgic and iconic name in Mahindra’s SUV lineup. The expected starting price for the new Thar variant is around 15 lakhs INR (ex-showroom).
In this competitive segment, Mahindra & Mahindra aims to compete with other prominent players like Maruti Jimny and the upcoming 5-door Force Gurkha. The Thar has established itself as a popular choice among off-road enthusiasts, and the introduction of a 5-door version is expected to further enhance its appeal in the market.
The New Thar SUV to Come with a Traditional Boxy Profile
Speaking about the design of the Mahindra Thar SUV, it is expected to maintain the traditional boxy profile seen in the current 3-door Thar, but with several notable changes. The SUV will feature a new grille design, round-shaped advanced LED headlights, vertical taillamps, redesigned bumpers, new alloy wheels, tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and a flat roof.
These new features will be available in the 5-door Thar variant. The latest cabin will include a single-pane sunroof, a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, front armrest, a new steering wheel, and safety features like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) along with ceiling-mounted speakers.
The company aims to enhance both the aesthetics and functionality of the Thar, making it a compelling choice for off-road enthusiasts and those looking for a stylish and feature-rich SUV.
